I am concerned about this busline as Traffic Engineers decided Division avenue needed 4 lanes and a turn lane to handle the traffic to Two Middle schools and high schools on Division in Wyoming, roads to 131 and 44th street to Grandville are very busy, and 36th and 32 nd streets get a lot of travel to the Roger B. Chaffee Industrial Park and on East to the E.Beltline. Now they want to ignore what the traffic engineers decided was necessary for this road and cut it down to two lanes for cars to accommodate a bus line that is almost a duplicate of the one we have now that is often empty. I think people who live in the area, as well as kids traveling to school are going to face a huge traffic nightmare that will divert them onto Buchanan, Jefferson, Madison and 131, increasing risks to Pedestrians and drivers. The Portland Oregon transit system that is often used to sell the idea of the Silver bus is very different as it was built on ITS OWN Road dedicated to the bus ONLY to protect the safety of pedestrians, and drivers. The Silverline will cause dangerous congestion in an already congested area where school children have been injured by cars, and a father was recently killed crossing Division in Wyoming. This is just one of many reasons I am voting NO on the Silverline Posted:Sat, 05.02.09 2:22 pm
